This large aperture telephoto zoom is designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras. It is suitable for taking portraits. This lens offers a large aperture of F2.8 and has the minimum focusing distance of 100cm/39.4in and maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.3. It has improved optical performance and retains close-up ability.

The lens design incorporates an inner focusing and inner zooming system, providing convenient handling. The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) system allows quiet and high-speed auto focusing with full time manual focus override by rotating the focusing ring. It is possible to attach the optional APO Tele Converters.

Improved optical performance in close-up photography
Four SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements are used for correction of all type of aberrations. The high-resolution power layout has improved the strength of the lens in close-up photography.

The close focusing capability allows close-up photography
The minimum focusing distance of 100cm/39.4in and maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.3 make it particularly useful for close-up photography.

Compact and lightweight
Specially designed for digital SLR cameras with an APS-C size image sensor, this large aperture F2.8 lens has a compact and lightweight construction.

F2.8 large aperture over the entire zoom range
The large, maximum aperture of F2.8 offers greater freedom of creative expression. This also makes it ideally suited for portrait or low light photography.

Reduced Ghosting and Flare
Sigma’s super multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. It also produces an optimum color balance and high level of optical performance.

HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor)
The HSM ensures fast and quiet autofocusing and allows full-time manual focus override by rotation of the focus ring.

APO Tele-Converter (Optional)
The addition of the optical 1.4x EX DG APO or 2x EX DG APO Tele Converters * produce a 70-210mm F4 AF telephoto lens a 100-300mm F5.6 AF telephoto zoom lens respectively. Specially designed to provide optimum performance with the master lenses.
* Pentax mount can be used in manual mode only.

Convenient handling
The lens design incorporates an inner focusing and inner zooming system. As the overall length of the lens does not change during focusing and zooming, convenient handling is ensured. It eliminates front lens rotation, making the lens particularly suitable for using circular polarizing filters.

*Vignetting will occur if the lens is used with digital cameras with image sensors lager than APS-C size or 35mm SLR cameras.
